this is gonna be a really cool frame to apply to anyone with any mental illness stiffer than light social anxiety. can’t wait to be berated for having an autistic meltdown and not taking personal responsibility for how much of a fucking bummer it is for everyone around me lmfao
i do not mean to be the bearer of bad news here but being told to take personal responsibility for things you do not actually control is not “humanizing”, and in fact is a major way people with disabilities get dehumanized. assuming personal responsibility for things you do not actually control and endeavoring to do things that are beyond your actual capabilities is not lucid or reasonable and should not be encouraged
stop pathologizing your symptoms. pathologizing looks like “hey i can’t eat your honey-glazed ham as i have diabetes and that much sugar will make me very sick”. humanizing looks like asking for seconds and apologizing for the inconvenience as you slip into a coma. hope this helps
why does he look like a lost cat???
Your super power is that you are average, at everything you do.
no, no- imagine how amazing this would be! you’re average- but the key here is at EVERYTHING you try and do
try and get the cure to cancer? well, aint a fingers snap and done cure but its a cure. doctors worldwide are astounded
try and learn how to communicate with an alien race? well, youre not fluent but its passing and humanity hasnt even invented deep space flight- you just managed to get their signal and have a chat
want to fly? well- youre a bit wobbly but goddamn its working
being average at everything is amazing bc if we assume anything you try works then eveything is at least working a bit
Jack of all trades, master of none, better than a master of one

I’ve been thinking about hatred towards Astarion from men. And I came to one amazingly simple, but sad conclusion. Astarion wouldn’t need to change his behavior, manners, habits, entire personal story and even moment with a knife during the first meeting. One thing could fix this all at once. Astarion as a woman.
I’m more than sure that in this case he would be the most popular character. On par with Morrigan, probably or Miranda Lawson. Mysterious, humorous, flirtatious, playful. But at the same time, so lonely, vulnerable, went through a lot of difficulties and suffering. She needs to be saved, she needs to be helped, protected and shown what true love means.
So? Isn’t this a typical idea of an ideal woman from a fantasy world? Sort of memes level: “I want her to be innocent and modest, but in bed with me an experienced like fatal beauty.”
But Astarion is a man. And for some this is the problem. Not a person and their inner problems. Their gender. Well, look at it this way and discover an unexpected revelation.

spoiler: the weird trick was “offering more pay and benefits”
fr this was an excellent article though. it has the “no shit” energy of a study that says not bullying your children makes them happier, but tears apart the “nobody wants to work anymore” rhetoric and points out how it was the mbta *ceding to union demands* that caused the spike in applicants. read it here
